A few words about Ioannina
Ioannina, also known as Giannena or Giannina, is the capital of Epirus, which is characterized by its natural wealth and great cultural heritage. Ioannina is a particularly popular destination not only in the winter months but all year round for both leisure and business reasons that our city is constantly developing. The Castle of the city
It is one of the few castle-states in Greece that is worth visiting the legendary castle of Ioannina where you can walk along the stone Calderimia to visit the Byzantine museum, the Fethiye mosque, the tomb of Ali Passa, the model museum of silversmithing, Its Kale, as well as the municipal museum with exhibits of Ottoman period.
Lake Pamvotida - Island
Passing the boat from the lake of Ioannina, you think of the islet where its history seems to be great, as the murder of Mrs. Frosini by Ali Passas took place there many years ago. Perama Cave
The Perama cave is just 5 km from the city of Ioannina and is considered one of the most beautiful caves in Europe. It has natural sculptures of stalactites and stalagmites and is worth a visit.

Pavlos Vrellis Museum of Greek History
Known as a museum of wax figures, it was founded by the sculptor Pavlos Vrellis and is located in the area of Ioannina in the Municipality of Bizani. The sculptor with a very personal work made places and people out of wax to help the viewer experience events that stigmatized the past by hosting in the museum 150 wax effigies and 36 historical subjects inspired by important events of Greek history.
Nearby excursions
At close distances from the law of Ioannina it is worth visiting Metsovo which is located 30 minutes via Egnatia street, a picturesque destination especially in the winter months where the Anilio ski resort is also nearby.
The Zagorochoria, hence the source of their name, are villages in the municipality of Zagori, of which you should definitely visit Papigo with its enchanting swimming pools, Monodendri, the village of Aristi, and for nature lovers, hiking in the Vikos ravine is a very good choice.
Finally, a good choice for an excursion outside the city of Ioannina is the villages of Tzoumerka, such as Pramanta, The Monastery of Kipina in the north of Tzoumerka, the historical bridge of the plaque, the largest single-arched bridge in the Balkans, an excellent example of folk architecture. There, lovers of adventure and adrenaline can do many activities on the river Arachthos.
